Grapes in the Home Garden

    This is the fourth year for the four grapes vines. Varieties are Baco Noir, Sovereign Coronation, Concord, and Niagara. I utilize the fruit for table and make juice out of any excess.

    Well done.......

    looking good for southern ontario, it has not been really warm yet this year. We still have below seasonal temps for this time of year. Grapes in my area are not the same in vigour as in previous years.

    What training system is that? Cordon or Kniffen, The vines look great!

    are the Niagara grapes any good?
    do they have thick skins..good taste...comparable to???
    looks to me that Niagara is the most vigourous of the bunch in those photos

    I have an acre of grapes, mostly wine grapes, but also a few table grapes. Keeping the birds away is among the easiest of the challenges to growing grapes. I cover the vines with bird netting a week or so before the grapes are expected to begin the change of color as the grapes mature. I purchase the netting in 500 foot rolls. I purchase the netting from Jim's Vineyard & Orchard Supply, California.- Millet (1,317-)
