I am wondering if goat manure is OK to use on ornamentals. I am mostly trying to add organic matter to my clay soil & have found a free source of goat & horse manure mixed together with a bit of hay. Is there any nutritional value to goat manure?

As long as it's properly aged it's great stuff - I use it on my bananas. It burns the plants if it's too fresh, though.

Never use brand new manure of any discription Jane,

Put it in a corner of the garden and cover it with polythene. This will attract wormies once it starts to get steamy. we used to leave our at least a year, one season to another.

Also make some liquid manure. You know how a tramp slings his belongings in a cloth and puts a stick through so he can sling it over his shoulder as he goes?

You do the same kind of thing but over a bucket of water with manure inside the cloth.
