Master Gardener clinic needs help. A lady sent in the following picture of something that's coming up in her garden. She thinks it's a perennial she picked up last year. This is all we have to go on right now. Can't see leaf arrangement. The veination is interesting--the veins loop back to the main vein without reaching the leaf margin. Can anyone help? Thanks

Horseradish, Armoracia rusticana, here it often becomes an annoying weed.

Interesting. Just wondering--does the leaf smell or taste like horseradish? I could ask her to check that to confirm.

Leaves smell slightly pungent, way less strong than crushed roots and a bit ditfferent as for me.

Positive confirmation of "horseradishy" scent from leaves. THANKS for your expertise!
