    Ginkgo biloba 'Troll'
This Ginkgo has very small leaves and a mounding growth habit or it can be staked to get more height. It's a relatively new introduction out of Europe and tends to be more difficult to find here in the US. Like all Ginkgo's it's very easy to grow, disease and pest free, fairly drought tolerant, and gets through winter with almost no die-back, if any at all. The fall color is bright yellow. Some of the leaves are much smaller than others as shown in the third photo. It seems that a larger leaf (with a long stalk) is at the intersection of every branch and the small leaves (with a short stalk) are all along the branch. This is a very cute Ginkgo that I think will continue to get better with age. Some growth estimates are 3'x3' for this tree. My 'Troll' was grown by Buchholz nursery.
