Geranium ???

Discussion in 'Talk about UBC Botanical Garden' started by Unregistered, Jul 14, 2004.

  1. Hello,
As you walk from the garden entrance on the paved path towards the underpass, about halfway there is on the left side a big clump of Geranium pratense 'Plenum Violaceaum'. A few steps further, on the right side, there is a big clump of lavender-blue flowering Geranium (cranesbill). It is in full bloom right now (Jul 13). I was not able to find a name tag.
Could you please give me the full botanical name for this lavender-blue flowering Geranium?
    Thank you.
    Ernst

    Hello Ernst,

This should be Geranium himalayense 'Plenum', a 1993 accession.

  3. Hi Danial,
    Thanks for your reply.
I had already surmised that it is G. himalayense 'Plenum', but I'm not a plantsman but a photographer and wanted to be sure.
    Thanks again.
    Ernst
