Hi, we have several different types of mushrooms growing in our mulch bed. Some are close to the ground and when stepped on produce a smokey effect. We're concerned that something is in the soil since we had many evergreen shrubs die. I assume mushrooms or other fungi in the soil of a flower and shrub bed is not good. Can somebody point me in right direction as to what I should do? Thanks Puzzled in PA
pictures of the fungi may enable someone to ID them and start the thought process as to what is going on in your soil. Generally fungus is a sign of decaying matter, in your soil, your plants or the soil and plants themselves.
