I was given an evergreen shrub, looks a bit like a cedar with scales along the stem, from an old garden. It has just recently flowered at the end of the stem, small white star-shaped flowers. Any idea what this might be?

Probably some kind of flowering shrub rather than a conifer such as a cypress.
