Hello there, I was reading an article on the Internet that stated the Westerland tends to be evergreen. Any comments? Are there other climbing roses that are disease resistant in our climate that tend to be evergreen? Thanks in advance. Steph.

Many modern hybrids have semi-persistent leaves. Black spot and other leaf diseases partly a result of many years of hybridizing and selection without concern for susceptibility. Lack of defoliating leaf diseases much more prevalent among wild species and primary hybrids. Recent efforts to produce resistant hybrids characteristics still not anywhere near replacing existing range of susceptible ones.
