There was a discussion on a forum years ago about an identification of an evergreen oak along Highway 9 at Big Lake just East of Mt. Vernon, WA. I was able to collect some acorns this past Fall and have them planted in large pots. Not sure if they will sprout or not, but hopeful. Just hoping to get a clear ID of that particular tree.

Any pics of the tree, its foliage, and its acorns?

No current pics, however when I get over that way again, I certainly could take a pic. The acorn is large. Shaped similar to the native Garryana but 20% larger. I'm still waiting to see if they sprout. The Garryana are just now sprouting and pushing on up through the soil. I had a hard time beating the squirrels to the acorns from the Big Lake evergreen oak. I happened to discover a cache of them in a pile of leaves.
