This is your chance Jimmy ...and the rest of you, also. I was in a metropolitan area on 5-27-05 and drove by this. Needless to say I had to go back and take a better look and get some photos. This tree/shrub is about 8'x15' and I need to get me some. Unfortunately they are not usually found in your local garden center or nursery. Any ideas? What is it?

I'll tell you what it is: it's too far away to see relevant details.

I was with Ron when I saw the first pictures ... I guess Elderberry but I really can't get a good take on the leaves...

hmm...what were you guys doing...besides looking at pictures?
    Elderberry ...not.
This plant should eventually put on a tree form, 30' to 40' tall and wide.

Cornus walteri. I should note that I didn't "know" the plant, other than recognizing a similarity to other dogwoods I've seen, in particular the way the leaf blade is not flat and the venation.

Here are the final three photos that I made of this beautiful plant. This tree, located on the UAH campus, is subject to be eliminated due to a planned project. I hope to be able to propagate it before it's demise.
