I moved to Edgemont Village in North Vancouver last fall. I looked forward to a lovely show from the three mature (they look to be about 5 years old) Cornus kousa in the garden. But there were only about 15 flower bracts in all. The leaves are healthy with only a few having tiny brown spots on them. My gardener agrees that those spots are so insignificant that they aren't the reason. Neighbours say that in the past the trees have bloomed beautifully. Other Cornus in my neighbourhood all bloomed. My trees are no more exposed than the tree right down the street. The trees look remarkably healthy and sturdy. Does anyone know why my trees' bracts did not colour?

Not nearly old enough to be in the solidly blooming, spurred phase of life. And some variation from one year to the next is usual, next year you may see more production.
