Cold hardy chestnuts?

    Rural Edmonton Alberta area, Canada
    Looking for a zone 3 hardy chestnut. Does it exist. Want to grow in Alberta, so only about 16-20 inches of precip a year, mildly alkaline soil.

    As far as I know, American Chestnut is the hardiest; worth trying to get some, as I'd think in Alberta you should be remote enough from chestnut blight sources to escape the disease. But make certain the plants you buy in are verified disease-free!
