Quite a simple question. My Canna lily (tropicanna black) has seed pods on it. How and when do I collect them????
Pretty much. The hard round seeds will be black or very close to it, the warty pod will be tan/brown. I've picked them slightly greener, but never while the little warts are still plump and juicy.
Thisis the first time i have planted this plant .. and they are really pretty ... i got the seed pods on mine also .. i didnt know they did that as they were bought as rhizomes .. do these seeds get planted right away or wait till spring .. how does this work with the seeds from this ?.. im new to this plant .. im guessing the seeds eventually grow to the rhizomes??. thanks for any help with this .. Marion
Yes, you plant the seeds in the spring (inside, or wait until the soil is warmer for direct sowing). Cannas are quick to grow from seed, many types flower the first year. By autumn, each seedling will have developed rhizome to dig and store.
