Can you identify this bug on our plums?

    Hi there, if you could identify this bug it would be helpful. Also, what could be used to prevent more. We're in Courtenay, BC.

    As a matter of fact it is a pupa of your best friend in the garden, a ladybug. See Ladybug Pupa - Bing images
    You probably have some aphids there.

    Thanks so much Sundrop! We definitely won't hurt her then. Even though they are really chomping on the plums!

    They are actually not chomping on anything, just attached to the plums while they develop into adults. I find them attached at random to just about any plant part.
