Bromiliad Blooming

Discussion in 'Plant Propagation' started by Unregistered, Nov 21, 2005.

  1. I have five bromiliads in separtate pots which were split off mother plant in June, 2005. Is there anything special I can do to help them bloom? I live in the Boston, MA area.

YES there is!!! when they are about 6 inches or higher, place the bromeliad in a plastic bag with an apple for 24 hours. Then the apple will give off the toxins in which the bromeliad needs to consume in order to bloom. After that take it out of the bag and in a few weeks your bromeliads will be blooming. I have over 50 bromeliads and this procedure ALWAYS works!
    Hope this helps, good luck!
