Hi Guy's. Forgive me, but I found this shrub growing near my home and am baffled as to what it is. Can anyone help me with an identification? Sadly the pic is not all that great, but I did try to include some leaves. Thanks for anything that you can do to help me out. Regards Walt.

    Perhaps a Clematis species?

Hello Wrygrass. Many thanks for the pointer. It is indeed Clematis Vitalba. What I actually found was the whole shrub covered in seed heads. Aparently rightly named 'Old Mans Beard'. Do look rather like scruffy old beards at that. Many many thanks Wrygrass for being there when you were so desperately needed. I am so happy. Regards Walt.

You are surely welcome. We have wild species here Clematis angustifolia, which along with 'Old Man's Beard' is also called 'Traveler's Joy' Harry
