I have a plant that appears every year in my garden, grows to about 2 feet high, spreads a little each year, then dies back in the autumn. It has soft green stems with a mottling, like light grey patches, on the stems. The leaves are around 3 inches long by 2 inches wide and are green and look a little like a vine leaf. It hasn't flowered for a couple of years but usually has deep purple downward-pointing flowers that are around 3 inches long and shaped like a pitcher. The sap doen't appear to irritate the skin, and I'm a bit sensitive to such things so it would me if it was going to!

    Can anyone help please?
    Cheers

Thank you so much for your help in identifying this. We've puzzled for eight years! I'll post a picture of the flower when it comes out
