Amazing flower--please help identify

Discussion in 'Plants: Identification' started by Unregistered, Jul 30, 2004.

  1. I saw the most amazing flower the other day and am dying to know what it is. (I actually saw two flowers which differed only in color.) One of them had 3 petals that were pure pure white and inside there were these beautiful pink spots. I am having trouble remembering exactly what the inside looked like. The leaves looked like lily leaves but I have never seen a lily like this. I also think they close when they are in the shade because I went back to see them late in the afternoon and they were closed up. Please help!

This is a guess, but perhaps one of the mariposa lilies, aka the genus Calochortus?

It'd be helpful to know where you are posting from!

    Google image search for Calochortus
