Soft green foliage in spring, then green in summer. It turns yellow-orange to red in autumn. Similar to Ki hachijo.

    Exposure sun or partial shade.

Height = 5 m x 4 m wide (this has different estimates on different sites-- some say 3m high)

I got mine from Mr. Maple in 2017. I have it, Ki hachijo, and Ao meshime no uchi, so I'm curious to watch the difference between these three. They all have very similar leaf shapes.

First two photos mine (early spring), third photo care of Budlake Nursery, fourth photo from Esveld online. There are more photos available at Maillot Bonsai and Esveld, and whole-tree photos at Pépinières du Val de Jargeau.

I like this cultivar a lot so far. It has a very pretty leaf shape, with subtle differences from the other two. It has also shown very good son tolerance, even in a pot in almost all day full sun. So far it has a more upright vase shaped growing pattern but it seems to branch regularly and not in a haphazard way.
