Acer Palmatum bark oozing

    The tree looks healthy except for three areas where the bark is oozing. I have attached a photo. Any ideas of the problem?

    Could be something as innocent as a bird dropping. Or it could be bacterial wetwood.

    Spray it off with a hose and see if it comes back out of the crack again.

    Thanks JT for the information. The description for bacterial westwood certainly sounds like my problem. There is oozing underneath a branch so no bird dropping there. Also, when I press on the top entry point of the crack, it oozes. I'll clean the areas and see what happens. Here are two more photos.
