Any ideas what I might plant next to my new Disanthus cercidifolius?

I've been watching the sun patterns and the spot I have picked out gets too much mid-day sun in a border that has this sequence:

Forsythia (large, tall, inherited, don't know what cultivar)

Silver pink Rhodo (inherited, don't know what cultivar)

SPACE - enough room for Disanthus and ??? needed to shade it better

    Cornus kousa

    Lilac (inherited)

    Red Rhodo (inherited)

    Eucryphia intermedia "Rostrevor"

Previous owners sacrificed a lot of the lower branches on the Cornus in order to plant an ornamental cherry about 4 feet away from this border.

Any ideas here? Narrow at the bottom and vase-like at the top would be great!

looks like a beautiful thing. I thought it may have been named after a local Rostrevor but it looks like it is an accidental Irish Hybrid.

Re acid area, Azalea like like acid and are ok in sun. Our sun can be very strong here over sumer and they thrive. We are at 800 feet elevation. Rhodos are ok as well. Hyderangea, daphne, camellia....Google acid loving plants
