This is a bit of a long-shot, but I'm hoping to find someone with experience of arid and semi-arid conditions in southern Africa. The flora of Namibia is new (and immensely interesting) for me - this was seen on a recent visit and I would appreciate any guidance on its id.

Looks like a Thymelaeaceae... after some search, I think it is a Gnidia polycephala (or a similar Gnidia species)

That's great Lila - I'm sure that you are right and it's what's known as 'Karoo broom' in South Africa. It was not such a long shot after all and give me hope that I will find some answers to my next 'mystery species'. Many thanks for your help!
