Hello, I am new to this posting, and site. I have planted 6 FPRs in the front yard, about 6 years ago, this spring they all were about 10 ft tall and healthy. I had my nephew visit this April 2017, and stripped the lower limbs of all the redbuds as they were just coming out. It now looks like it is dying, but limbs still seem alive. What is the damage? Death or perhaps next year revival?

By redbuds, do you mean your nephew stripped the flowers or the leaves?

The pink flowers. He was able to reach the lower 1/2 of the tree limbs.

Sounds intriguing--all I can think of is that there might be some sort of hormonal disruption. More likely is that something else is going on underground.
