Morning, I have a few JMs either I lost their name tags or the tag is faded out so I now have a hard times to ID them. Can you share with me any method on how to get their cultivar name back?. I guess we can start from the leaf type then go to color and group maybe?. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, steven

If you have no record of what the trees might be I believe the best you can do is positively say what cultivar the tree is not.
You could come up with a list of 'might be' cultivars but not with any certainty.
Perhaps there is some way of genetically testing for identification that others are aware of.

Thanks Geezer, so I have one 'no tag' looks like 'Orange Dream', 'Katsura', 'Akane' ... color and leaves. Do we know how many cultivars in this group of color so at least we can concentrate in and do the elimination game?. Thanks
