    Last month's garden blog was all about showy fruits. This month, Douglas Justice presents "unremarkable looking fruits" - kiwis. See October 2016 in the Garden | UBC Botanical Garden.

    These are the Actinidia arguta that are pictured in the blog. They're not ripe yet (or were not ripe last week).

    Next to the A. arguta in the food garden are the more common Actinidia delociosa. The next photo shows both species. The last photo is the A. deliciosa growing in the Asian garden.

    Nadia wanted me to mention that the A. arguta, which in the food garden are the cultivar 'Ananasnaya', are much smaller than the A. deliciosa, smaller than she thinks they appear in the third photo. They are only about 3cm long, pop in your mouth size. I don't know why we don't see these in the markets.
