My elderly grandmother has this growing in her garden. We live in the UK but we believe this plant is not native to here. She really wants to know as it was the last plant my avid botanist grandfather planted before his passing last year, and she feels very attached to it but sadly cannot identify it.

    Thank you in advance :)

    Welcome to UBC forums.
    This is a dwarf Elm.
    Probably Ulmus hollandica Jacqueline Hillier.

Ulmus × hollandica 'Jacqueline Hillier'; - Google Search

    Quote wiki...
"The 'dwarf' elm 'Jacqueline Hillier' ('JH') is believed to be a hybrid cultivar from the Elegantissima Group of Ulmus × hollandica, though uncertainty about its parentage has led some nurserymen to list it simply as Ulmus 'Jacqueline Hillier'. It was cloned from a specimen found in a private garden in Selly Park, Birmingham, England in 1966."

    So definitely very British!
