evergreen fragrant flowering plant i.d.

    Can anyone identify this plant? thanks in advance
    evergreen shrub
    lanceolate leaf, alternate
    cluster of flowers -- smells so beautiful! -- purple on outside, white inside petals
    four pointed tubular flowers

    Might be Daphne odora, Winter Daphne.

    Leaves more pointy than usual for that one. Is plant spreading and bushy or tall and gaunt?

    New photos of the entire plant!
    And the bark, cocoa brown in colour and relatively smooth.

    Thank you for the plant name - but I have looked at the photos on the UBC botanical photo of the day & the plant I am posting is very bushy and compact. The photos of Daphne bholua, as you suggested it might be, looks so sparse with longer leaves.

    The third photo showing the bark, I actually lifted the branches out of the way, so it's a bit deceptive.
