'Autumnalis Rosea'.

 

550 E 6th and 6th east of St George are the same location. I think Willard's 1st and 4th photos show very white buds, which is my criterion for calling them 'Jugatsu-zakura'.
Ron, you're calling them 'Autumnalis Rosea' because of the branches?

 

At Teaswamp Park this morning, 5 old Whitcombs blooming.
Sadly, one of them looks like it has been amputated.

 

The 5 mature Accolades on the north side of City Hall are starting to bloom. No sunshine late this afternoon, but lots of pretty flowers.

The Accolades at City Hall are a must see...any time of day and under any weather conditions. Catch them before they are finished.

I can't say much good about 'Pink Perfection' trees as trees, but they have such achingly beautiful flowers (Douglas Justice's term, used for I can't remember which cultivar - one of the supremely sad-looking trees with unbelievably beautiful flowers). Here are the trees:

You can see that the two at the street are mostly overrun with sweet cherry rootstock growth. On one of them, though, the 'Pink Perfection' branches seem to be doing better than on the tree in the middle of the lot (first and second photos are the one tree in the middle).

Along Terminal closer to Main are three 'Kanzan'.

 

A week later and the 'Kanzan' trees on Terminal at Main have no flowers visible from a distance, but the 'Pink Perfection' trees from a distance still appear covered with flowers, and many of the flowers still look good up close, with more development of the second-story flowers.

Here is what I went to find - what I remembered as a grove of five trees, for which I can not find a single photograph, seems to be a single tree, but a nice one, at Carolina Park, at the north end of Carolina Street at E. 5th. It even has swings, but @Willard wasn't with me, so the last photo taken from a swing will have to do.


I remembered these two trees, separated by a sweet cherry, at Prince Edward and E. 2nd or E. 5th, depending on which side of the street you are reading the sign.


A block up, on East 6th at Prince Edward, are two young 'Shiro-fugen' outside the Kimount Club.


West of them, on the rest of the north side of the block, are somewhat older 'Kanzan' trees, and catty-corner on 6th, on the south side east of Prince Edward, are two more 'Kanzan'.

 

'Whitcomb' at Teaswamp Park seem to have suffered in the cold weather this year. But I still think 'Whitcomb' flowers have the most beautiful pink color.

 

Old akebono nicely in bloom on Yukon bike route at W6th (Craftsman Collision).

 

These 4 Accolades on the north side have bloomed but there is a nice grove of 7 Akebono's on the south east corner that are now in full bloom as well as a nice young Akebono outside a private house across Yukon near W 10th.

 

Who says McD's is bad for you. These big old Akebono's are blooming well and their exposed roots are quite "Supersized"!

I'm not believing you on the 'Akebono' in full bloom, would want to see that!
