Sadly, it seems that the brilliant work of the late Steve Lucas, previously to be found at exoticrainforest.com, is no longer accessible. My surmise is that the license for the site has been allowed to lapse.

This is most regrettable. Even though he objected to being called an 'expert', Steve indeed was one: he demonstrated every day his passionate and profound scholarship. He strove unceasingly to bring aroid knowledge to everyone. The most intense research; travel to far-off conferences; late-night writing, editing, cross-referencing---all done for the love of Araceae.

It would be a great thing if the IAS* would talk to Steve's wife and see to it that this vast and valuable resource is opened and will remain so.

    Keep the Rainforest alive!

Doing OK. Hope you are, too! Thanks for asking.

Shameful that all Steve's hard work has been put into the electronic equivalent of storage boxes in the attic. I can vividly imagine him shouting 'WHAT!!! This is an outrage!' and immediately taking steps to put things right.
Am hoping Daniel may read this and let us know what may be done...to whom to write, and/or on whose doorstep we should camp.
    ...???...

Do you get the same site when you click on the link?
Unfortunately I think it has already been sold and I guess all that great information has been lost....

    Thank you, Junglekeeper!

What would be the best, of course, would be for a diligent aroidophile to take over the site and continue the good work.

I suspect the site will disappear from the archive with time.

If 'Save Page As...' with the 'Web Page, complete' option doesn't work then a helper extension may be required.

    edleigh, this is MASSIVELY excellent!!!
Thank You for letting us know!
When I read your post I leapt into the air a la Ed Grimley. Will probably do so again.
And thank you to the IAS for stepping up to the plate---make that 'SPATHE'---and doing the right thing!

To all readers who are unfamiliar with the Exotic Rainforest: click on edleigh's link. You are in for a treat.
The creator of both this site and an amazing tropical botanical garden in Arkansas was Mr. Steve Lucas, known as 'photopro' on this Forum. Information given in his posts or on his site is entirely trustworthy, exhaustively researched, and 100% The Genuine Article.

Spiff-tacular news! One of the rarest cultivars of Surprise---a GOOD one!

It seems the site has since been restored under its previous domain name, www.exoticrainforest.com.

Whoa! Great news, I'll have to check it out. Steve's site was lovely but not all that easy to navigate and of course it became much harder when it was archived. Made me appreciate his quirky style all the more. Shocking colors, changing fonts, and all that black and green.

@thanrose, it's just an archive of the website as it was. There is no indication that anything will be changed.
